OpernTurm is a major new development that will make a dramatic addition to the Frankfurt skyline. The project comprises a 168m tower, a seven storey podium building and an underground garage offering both private and public car parking. Situated on Opernplatz, opposite the famous Alte Oper, OpernTurm is regarded as having the best location in Frankfurt.
The high-rise component of the scheme offers 42 floors with a total net leasable area (NLA) of 52,000 sqm, with 1,300 sqm floorplates. The podium building will comprise 7 floors with a total NLA of 10,500 sqm. Five upper floors are intended for office use and the lower two floors for retail. The building is surrounded by a two-storey arcade facing the Opernplatz and extends into Bockenheimer Anlage.
The amenities of the project will include 580 car parking spaces, a children’s day care facility, two restaurants, and a private roof-top terrace on the podium building. More than half of the site will be converted into a public park enlarging the existing Rothschild Park. Construction commenced in quarter 1, 2007 and will be ready for tenant fit-out towards the end of 2009.
In June 2006, UBS announced that it would be taking 31,000 sqm in the tower – representing one of the largest ever pre-lease deals in the Frankfurt banking district.
