How do we continue to grow as a society and yet live in harmony
with the natural world?
Today, for the first time in history, more people live and work in cities
than in the surrounding countryside.
And so we build.
But how? With what materials? To what end? Using what methods? Can it be done
sustainably? These are just some of the questions we believe we must ask
ourselves before embarking on projects whose results will last 100 years or
more.
We believe the answers lie in the details. We are a company called Tishman
Speyer—owners, developers, operators, and investment managers of some of the
most recognized buildings in the world. From the ageless grace of Rockefeller
Center and the Chrysler Building in New York, to the Sony Center in Germany,
and the North Tower in Brazil. Along with more than 321 other extraordinary
properties.
Ours is a company focused on detail, in everything we do. So definitions matter
to us. What does it mean to be green? What is sustainability? Are they
different? Can a building be 100% green?
Today, we must live and work in a world where commerce and conscience must
coexist in harmony. There is, we believe, a business imperative as well as a
moral imperative, to build intelligently, respectfully, beautifully, and
sustainably.
From big to small, from existing buildings to designs in progress, from energy
efficiency to earth-friendly cleaning products, we're committed to working and
developing sustainably.
